What year is the RX7 and what state are you in? If it is a 1996 or newer it will not pass emission testing in New Hampshire or Vermont. It will also violate some federal regulations doing this swap. It would suck to do this conversion and not be able to drive it.

I think the last year for the RX7 in the U.S. is 1995.

The last year for US bound cars was 96. they did sell some 97's which had new vin numbers for them.Mazda continued to make them even later. I'm in Florida near tampa. I have the adapter plate finished (a machinist made it) the fly wheel was modified to fit the VW crank and the motor mounts are done. My car is a 1988 and florida doesnt have emissions. Next up is making a sump in the oil pan because to make it fit I had to tilt it over 30*. VW allows 50*

I would love to work on it some more but I'm up to my ears with my Ford cummins swap. Why do I have 2 projects going? because I'm an idiot.

If you go to tdiclub.com and go to the pictures section look for lews930 albums you can view the pictures.

As for the Ford swap I finally put the motor into the truck last night. It isnt bolted down but at least it's in there. Boy do I have advice for people that are thinking of doing a swap. I think I'll create a thread when I'm finished that will describe in detail what needs to be done at least when doing a 12 valve swap. I took some pictures last night but forgot to upload them. I'll do it when I return home tomorrow

It's been a while but the swap is done. go to youtube and do a search for diesel powered rx7

I pulled the diesel out yesterday to reinstall the rotary. While doing the swap I came across a TDI Passat dirt cheap and bought it. No need for 40mpg RX7 now. Thje car was slow but pulled very good. the rotary will never pull like that.

Merry Christmas
