Thank you for recomendation. One posting for 1.5 - 2.0 MPG under changing conditions is not scientfic proof. My 600 mile regular trip is still not absolute for showing a improvement. As I said, I can vary results by 7 MPG driving the same route at same speed and same driving time. Ambient temperature, actual driving conditions, load and wind resistance of load are big variables. Have you ever heard the great benefits of magnets on fuel lines.

 

dozer12216-----your welcome!! when will you be doing your trip and posting your findings?? i can't wait!! now these magnets u are talking about, those don't happen to be those gimics that are advertised all over TV and that 999 people out of 1,000 people are selling on ebay are you?? i am curious how does this magnet work?? also i would greatly like to see your scientific facts for your miracle 7mpg gain!!

my results haven't varied at all for this trip!! this week i have put on well over 5,000 miles on my truck and THESE ELECTRIC FANS!!!! and the conditions have been from 57* outside temp all the way up to 100* temp and from flat ground to 8% grade uphill towing and everything in between!!!!

 

oh and what i have been towing also has veried from a 19' boat to a 20' boat and an 24' fully enclosed trailer with a full race ready race car and generator and tools and other misc stuff that took me @ 17,500 pounds on the scales!!! and now i will have a 4 wheeler in the bed of my truck and a bumper pull camper for the remainder of this trip.

then this coming week i will have my 45' trailer with wieghts from 20,000- 25,000 pounds that i will be throwing at these fans!!!!!

so if i am not testing them like u say, then what am i doing?? please refresh my memory as i seem to have lost it somewhere as to what i am doing!!!

Not a 7 MPG miracle gain. As stated, the milage has varied by 7 mpg on the same route, driving speed and driving time. The variables were load, temperature, driving conditions, Wind resistance, ect. The 10.8 was with total gross of 35,000 pounds. The 15.7 was with my 25 foot gooseneck and about 2000 pound load or just under 13,000 pounds gross. My normal MPG on trip is 14.7 give or take a little and always with same gooseneck. Wind resistance of load is a big variable. Anything above height of gooseneck cuts into milage heavy. No load, no trailer, same trip over 20 MPG. Go figure.
The magnets claim was disproved by agency of federal goverment in a scientific test.
I believe Chrysler changed over to non belt driven fan on some model a few years back. The scientific improvement was far less than your results. The improvement was in low tenths of MPG. Their reason for change was to get a certain 0 -60 MPH time improvement. It delayed the HP loss to cool down after the 0 - 60 MPH event. The cost was great and reliability so so.
The milage you get is just that. You can easily change milage by 2 MPG or more if desired. Just like the magnet sellers alledged. Intrested in a hydrogen cell upgrade for milage???

Oh and those fuel line magnets put them in your alternator for better fuel mileage, now that you use more electrical current.

 

i am in ATLANTA, GA right now!!!! WERE CAN I GO BUY THESE MAGNETS??? I WILL PUT 2 ON MY ALT RIGHT NOW AND TRY IT!!!!! since these fans aren't given me anything i better try what i can!!!

alright all day yesterday and till 8 am this morning we drove all the way from Loveland, CO to Burlington, NC pulling the 24' fully enclosed trailer with a race ready race car and misc tools and tires and so forth it and weighing in at 17,500 pounds. we constantly ran 180*. the outside air temp ranged from 57* to 100*. now here in the apalachian mountains there was 2 very very steep inclines that the temp did climb to 195* and only when we got close to the top and then after about 1 minute the temp came right back down to 180-185* instantly.

now we are in alabama headed to pickup a camper and then headed straight to IOWA. then once we get to iowa. we will be hooking up to my 45' fully enclosed trailer and then testing the waters of 20,000-25,000 pounds in wieght.

so far i have nothing bad to say about these fans!!! tomm i will sit down and figure out my mileage and post the findings. and the wieghts i was towing and from what place to what place for you guys to do your own figures. then u guys can compare it to a few trips before when i didn't have the electric fans and then also after having the electric fans pulling the wieghts of 20-25K with my fully enclosed trailer!!!

 

Sounds like the fans are doing a good job... Now we need someone to do this same real life experiment with a third gen...

and 2-3 lbs of boost pulling a small trailer, heck, on my 06 I can barley stay under 7 on the highway with no load..lol

i am planing on buying a brand new mega cab with the 6.7 and 6 speed auto. but doesn't look like it will happen till around x-mas time. a nice present to myself i think!! lol.

i luv driving an seeing the country!! the longer and harder we drive the faster we are home and the longer we get to stay at home the faster we get trips done.

550-650 exhaust
2-4 psi boost

 

I can't wait for a scientific one behind the other, same driver, load, time, wind resistance, ect genuine comparsion. With some real figures. I have a ideal of what it will take to get one on my truck. Is FLEX A LITE ready for this???

I'd like to put electric fans on my 97 CTD and was concerned about warning by flexlite not to put this on diesels that's pulling large loads. which is exactly what you are doing...

by the way.... real life conditions is the ultimate test... labs results are just a beginning... what counts in my book is real life feedback from folks logging thousands of miles ... pulling a big honking load.

Air craft designs are tested in the wind tunnel (lab) all the time. They are proven to work there and then they go out in the real world and find out the hard way that they did not see a particular problem in the design. The real world test is where it is at. There is a lot of apples in this barrel Racing Joe66 don't let one bad one spoil the rest. I am and others are finding your efforts and time in this to be very informative. Hope you will let us know how this finishes up.
