Mine is not, but I think Heat & UV contribute immensely. I use an Aluminum HD reflector shade in the front window most of the year. When parked in the sun, I crackthe windows about 1", pevents massive heat build-up. I have the Venst Shades on the window, helps a little with rain, driving or parked.
Proably right on poor quality. Perhaps some Armorall may help to keep it from drying out?
Just some thougts.

Its plastic.. Now I can see inside the dash the cracks are so big.. actually if you took the screws out behind the black trim around the guages.. I would have a 10in hole in the dash... where pieces would just fall out..

At least everyone could call in...

Those of you that have low miles, might have a chance... they are telling me they won't help me because I have too many miles on the truck... (what ever that has to do with the dash...)

How does the cover from Geno's look? Does it cover it and blend in really nice? Also, it is about 140, what is the upper half that you guys are getting from the dealer for 179? If it is a replacement, I would rather have that. I have a 97, gray.

Cracked

Mine is cracked on my 99 2500 4x4, Cummins (of course) the dash is the dark grey. I am the original owner and it has 195k on it.

My Dad's is cracked, 01 2500 Cummins, it is the tan color and it has 135k on it.

My brother in laws is cracked, it's a 99 1/2 tom 2 wheel drive. His is the dark grey also and has @100k on it. If you need the vin numbers I'll see about getting them. Do we have a path forward? Also does anyone know if there is an aftermarket replacement? Thanks in advance for all the work and help.

I just noticed my dash being cracked a month ago. I had 89k miles on it but seeing as it's only a minor issue I'll take care of that myself. Not worth the DC hassle. Light grey interior and I agree Texas heat was the probable cause.

Go to a junk yard to go find one it's cheaper and a lot easier.

Every vehicles dash cracks, and more so in heat.

Its just what happens.

Have them recall your fuel tank while your at it, I heard they tend to get empty as you drive?

Not that I'm a ford guy, But I had an Aerostar for ten years in Fl the dash didn't crack and I had a '69 stang Mach 1 I sold it in 82 with the same dash no cracks.
Dodge has been using POS plastic. My sunglass holder (center top) , fold down cup holder, and dash, all plastic and all self destructed. I don't abuse my baby and most of the time it's in a covered garage.

Cracks

Not every vechile cracks like mine has, I know plenty of people with Chevys and Fords from 1990 and up with no cracks, I don't personally know anyone with a Dodge 1996 and up with no cracks. I believe they bought some cheap plastic.

Does the drilling of a hole at the end of the crack really stop it?
