computer problem

My wife let our Granddaughter put in a dvd in the dvd drive. she got it in crooked. When they finally saw that it was crooked they put it in again correct this time. Now the door wont open to let you retrieve the dvd disk. Any suggestions, other than to keep wife and Gd away from the pc? Thanks, Tony

Check around the front of the drive where the door for the disk is. There should be a small hole just big enough to insert the end of a paper clip. Insert the paper clip in there to release the lock on the tray...unless the DVD is jamming it shut, this should allow you to open it up.

Generally there will be a tiny little hole by the button to release the drive. You can straighten out a paper clip and push it in that hole to manually open the door. I have a CD drive that likes to stick sometimes, so we just keep one with the PC.
