tell me what u think
i have found a 92 w250 4x4 cummins w/auto 175000 on the ticker for $4500havent got to drive it yet but owner says auto tranny has been refreshed new gaskets on motor guess it was leaking gooseneck hitch, it is intercooled, body in good shape for year no bad rust( i have seen it in person but have yet to drive)
heres the bad he says the steering is really loose and the tranny line to the cooler has a leak about 1 quart every week.
do you all think this is a good deal? is there any thing else i should look for (possible problems w/ these trucks
thanks for any input
I'd be suspiscious of any "refreshed tranny" stories accompaied by a leak. Could mean it was refilled after they abused it during the dry runs when it was running low. Find out exactly what he means by "refreshed."
But other than that, check the steering coupler on the steering box. If that is all that is causing the steering problem it is an easy fix. Find out exactly what's leaking. That could be easy or difficult/expensive to repair, depending on what the problem is.

Take it for a test drive and watch for any mysterious shifting, vibrations etc. The steering is an easy fix, call up piers diesel and order the borgeson steering shaft. Do that and you will have next to nothing for steering slop.
Check for loose tie rod ends and the pitman may move around. Have someone move the steering wheel back and forth while you look at each moving part. Usually it is the joint on the steering shaft.
Oh, yes, don't run over yourself.
