NEW Htt 62/71/13ss And ITS SQUEELING
I know I am going to get flamed but I can't help it. I have read probably ten posts in the last few days that mention that the Smarty boost fools. This is not completely accurate and could be misleading. A boost fooler modifies the MAP voltage to the ECM so it thinks the boost is always within the programmed parameters of the ECM usually between 21-27psi. Without the fooler if the voltage exceeds those parameters the ECM will throw a code and CEL. The Smarty reprograms the parameters in the ECM to except up to around 43psi or about 5 volts which is about the limits of the MAP sensor anyways. So there really is no fooling with the Smarty it is all about the programming. And you will get a CEL and code if boost exceeds 43psi with the Smarty. I am really not trying to be a jerk, I just wanted to throw this out there so everyone knows the difference between what a boost fooler does and how the Smarty works. Thanks, Tom J.
Um...I don't get a code up to 87 psi????
Smarty (at least with my experience...my truck...friends trucks etc...) just really kills the algorithm for too mcuh boost. Boost fooling can still be nice with low boost fooling...trickign things to fuel harder at a lower boost.
Mild use of a MP-8 is really the best of both worlds.

BTW...you can just remove the wastegate soleniod from the OEM turbo...wrap it up in a bag...leave it plugged in and tuck it out of the way...no codes...
So HTT is reallyorrect...you don't really have to have anything to make it work.

He might have been right but when i called back after i got codes and asked his dude he said i needed a boost fooler. And it didnt say anything about that in the directions so i had no idea. I do appreciate the info because i didnt know i had that option and i will hold on to the old one just n case.
Well i have called 4 times and left 2 messages to find out whats going to happen and not a single word or call back yet. Good thing i bought another turbo and didnt wait on this great service. Shipped it back on the 20th and arrived on the 27th and not a peep. I guess i will call the credit card company tom to see if i have been credited any money since nobody seems to be speaking.
Finally got a call and was told that there isnt anything wrong my squeeling turbo that i sent back. Everything checked out ok on it. Can someone tell me what the heck is going on with this? I told them when idleing its fine, the trouble comes when you give her a little juice. There was 5 people standing there listening to this thing hollering and was noticeable from 100 feet over the engine noise. Any ideas?
Could have been one of the things that people first listed in this post before you removed it. A boost leak, poor connection at the manifold, a gasket misaligned, lots of things.
I know you said you checked all of those, but who knows. Anyone can overlook a small detail.
What exactly did HTT tell you about the turbo? Did they completely tear it down or just visually inspect it? I'm guessing torn down if it took them this long to get back to you.
Did they offer any kind of resolution?

That sounds pretty hard to believe, especially when HTT called me when they received my turbo after they inspected it of course, and then again before they shipped it out. I saw nothing but great customer service.
I still havent heard anything...........Dang good thing i bought another one. And the noise was a grinding like metal on metal so i dont think it was a boost leak. But then again they say they didnt find anything wrong with it. I just cant wait till someone else buys a new turbo and they send my old one out. And no credit yet........still waiting
