I just did actually. Went from a 98 2500 12 valve to a 2018 2500 5.7 hemi. Mine is a daily driver, I wanted something quieter. Tow occasionally, and I don't tow anything a gasser couldn't handle.

Mine gets approx. 20-21 in summer 18-19 in winter (mostly highway) I've got a 4x4 with oversized tires. Check your overflow valve and air filter too. Both of those will cause mileage issues.

I think 3.73 and 3.54 are both options with the D80. Housing wont change, but the carrier will if you go to 3.54. I'm not sure about 3.73.
