Rear Differential Question

My diff went in to get redone last July as the pinion shims found a way to escape. Well its been six months and about 6,000 miles. Went out to start the truck and spotted oil on the ground, gave the yoke a shake and it had end play. Well I took it back to the shop that did the work and they fixed it for free, absolutley no question. A "ten" for customer service. The fellow said it was a broken shim, first one he had ever seen.(he's been around) Has anyone ever heard of this???
He's getting a dozen MGD's from me.
Thanks Bob

you probly know this but a shim takes up space and can be pretty thin..if it got cocked or something during install ..well anything can happen, the fact they stand behind it would be good enough for me..............as I can only make mistakes with what I work with.......I have a 100% record as a brain surgene.....not so good in other places
