what is a bad number for egts? im hitting about 1800 with the egt protection off...... if i use the setting with it at 1250 then i lose ALOT of power....

1300* is about the max safe limit. 1800* is asking for trouble, as in you're lucky you didn't melt a piston kinda trouble.

You'll loose a bunch more power if you keep going to 1800 on your EGT's!!! A new motor is around $8000-10,000, now that's a big loss all together!!! On the serious side, you shouldn't hold your motor at more than 1250 for a long period. Short bursts to 1500 is ok as long as it's "short bursts" or you will cook a piston. My engine costed me $10,000 over a race with a Duramax. I held mine at 1500 for approx 1 minute and did extensive damage to the tune of $10,000. on my part!!!

yes im on a stock turbo and yes i only hit those hight temperatures in burst.

1800* is too much, period. Best thing you can do is more boost or a bigger snail. Otherwise, sticking with defueling is your best bet.

You're Ok to 1600* for 8-10 sec. Drag racers do it all the time. If third gen, even higher. (fill in signature, please).

Put a charger on that thing. You have no idea how much power you are missing out on right now.

You are also going to need a clutch, you are not putting anywhere near the potential of the box to the ground on a stock clutch and a stock charger.
