so i have a 2wd frame and i was just wonderin if a second gen or newer coil spring axle will fit under it and if the coils would fit in the right spot?

Oh I dunno, I have beat on mine pretty good........ And by the time you absolutely need the strength of the kingpins, you have twisted that puny frame like a pretzel.......

Not to mention I can do all 4 balljoints before you get 1 of those tapered studs out...

But to the OP, they are correct, if you wish to get away from leafs, there are much better ways to 4 link an axle than to use the Dodge design.

i dont have a second gen cummins that i could go measue and i dont think the guy at wall mart would be to hapy with me measuring his rig. patdaly i know there are better ways but i like how i can buy that axle for 300 bucks around here and thats with the whole front frame half with it. It has every thing ready to go just need some frame brackets and it could be on its own wheels.

I've got a '95 with a D60 front. What measurements do you need?

how far apart are the coils from center to center. An over all width. and how big are the springs? with wise need to see if they will go up in to a factory 2wd coil bucket. and for the brackets for the control arms with i think that should be all i need.

I think the 2ND gen axles are wider as the wheels need spacers to fit first gens.

I have thrown 6.5 inch wide '94-'97 style rims on many a 1st gen with NO spacers.
It is the later 24 Valve rims that are 8 inch wide that might give you a problem on a 1st gen.
The 3rd gen rims will need spacers.

You are still correct though, as at least the rear axles, are wider on a 2nd gen than a 1st gen.

If the rears are wider, the fronts are as well, because the front track is about a tire width wider than the rear. On a 2nd gen.
