wiring for a winch

can i use the 12 volts that come out of the trailer plug to power my winch

i have the trailer end that i will hook to my winch and only run power and a ground out of

my winch has a 50 amp breaker on it

will this much power overheat the trailer wiring harness

Yes, that wiring was made for lighting and not much more.
Look at the size of the winch cables compared to the size of the trailer wiring.

Do not use the trailor wiring harness. Run a seperate power and ground wire to the back of your truck. Use #2 wire. Cheers good luck.

I have a wiring kit made by Superwinch. It elimanate's the need for a battery for the winch. You can get it from Summit. However, all's it is is #2 welding cable. I found a local battery supply place that sold all the connector's and wire for a fraction of the price.
