"REPEAT OFFENDER" - Swoles back at it...

Just figured I'd share my recent purchase and plans with you guys....
This will be a cut / paste from another forum, so the post represent a few weeks time of progression...

I just couldn't stay away...lol

-----------------------------------------

After having 850+ hp in the 05 and then putting it back to pretty much stock, I just wasn't happy..
Thought I'd be happy with trading it for a 2012, Which I did and I love!! ( MiniMax, Deletes, and Exhaust just recently installed).
But it just wasn't like having what I had for power... So my buddy had his up for sale and kept trying to get me to buy it ( he wants a 2012 also )... I was trying to help him sell it by posting pics for him and everything.. Then I just CAVED...
We struck a deal and Now I have an 07 with lots of mods...:)
Not quite as fast / powerful as my 05 but runs Really Really well.
It has slightly smaller turbos on it and slightly smaller injectors.
GOOD news is it has EFI Live on it with a tune from Rich at Dog House Diesel.
The previous owner never had time to get with Rich and put it on the dyno to REALLY tune it well, so Rich sent him his "Nitrous" tune that he runs on his truck.
It's Really Fast but a bit smokey due to the lower timing and extra fuel to burn with nitrous...
So I'm going to get with Rich soon to get on the dyno and / or data log some and see what it needs to be perfect...
This will be my "Toy"...Street but mainly Strip...
My Cosmetic Plans are to Have the Wheels Powder coated Black ( bought a spare set so I can keep these nice), Line-X the Chrome area on the bumpers Black, and then Paint or Line-X the grill black as well....
Getting rid of the chrome step bars also... Ad removed
Some Black Garmon and Dog House Diesel Stickers will go on the sides / back to support my friends work...

Long Term plans is the save for Larger turbos or different setup and maybe a little more fuel.... Not until I can afford to pull the motor and put some different rods in and maybe decompress it a bit for reliability....
Here are some pics of what is now named ( Tenatively ) "REPEAT OFFENDER"

Few vids on the way home...

Rolling into it for a few seconds.. Not going much over 3000 rpms..

The secondary needs to be working harder.. Making 55-58 psi but the primary is making 35 of that... I need to clamp off the tube up top or at least get heavier springs to keep the gate closed longer...

Way more boost / power to be made here... And it's already in the 750 range as is.

Rail Pressure set to max at 24-25k psi... Keep it safe and conservative..

Those extra ponies aren't worth the possible melted pistons.
Been there / Done that... lol

Well first let readdress the differences in this one and my 05.

Turbos are slightly smaller . This one has a Source Auto kit
64/65/13 over an S475 75/96/1.32 (non-race cover)

Vs. my old MPI kit 62/71/23ss over S480 80/96/1.32 w/ race cover

Injectors are smaller. This has Flux 3's (150) Vs my old Flux 4's (200)

Weight should be the same at 7300 +\- with me in it.

I forgot to remove the tail gate..

Started off with the old tune that was on this truck (smokey nitrous tune ) that was NOT tuned for this truck.. He just had to have something and never had time to dyno / track so Rich could tune..

I DO NOT HAVE A TC LOCK UP SWITCH ON THIS TRUCK!!!
So it'll get quicker when I do.

I made a pass with this tune... Very slow to lite outta the hole...
And for got to turn on TOW/HAUL so it hardly locked before the run was over.

So Rich started his Majic.... We only had time for 5 passes.

It got quicker each time , except the last... I totally screwed up the lauch!!
Couldn't get to the right boost... Went over then under, then was too late.

Again.. No lock up switch... Probably A good thing for me. lol

Sorry bout the no time on a few.. They kept hiding it.

Not too bad for the shake down passes..

Lock up switch and fix my secondaries waste gate so the Primary doen't have to work so hard, and I think I can get close to the Interceptors times.

Showing how my wastegate needs some attention..
The Primary is having to work way too hard for the total boost.

The spare set of wheels for "Repeat Offender" were powder coated and picked up today.

I think instead of line-x on the bumpers and grill, I've decided to look into a black vinyl wrap for them so it can be Reversed..

I think the Khaki and Black will look pretty good..

Unfortunately the center caps are a slightly different color.
I may just run them without caps..

Found more power :)

I went out tonight and tried the clamping the boost hose on my secondary.
Took a pair of vice grips and clamped it all the way off.

It confirms my spring is too weak in the wastegate.

I went from making 62-63 total psi of boost with the primary making almost 40, to making 75 psi total boost and the primary only having to make 30 ish..

I could actually feel the difference...

I then loosened the vice grips up a bit to try and find a happy medium and get the splits around 50/50 like they should be... But it went back to the old numbers..

Hoping to match the Plasti Dip spray.

Looks good.

I can't really tell, but it's in pictures. Set it up on a table and take a level shot of them standing up.

I woulda left the caps chrome.

And the Joe Dirt saga continues!

windowless block

Nice ride are you gonna keep the rods and other items inside to keep from windowing the block. Hope you have better luck with this one
