On my 92 it turned out to be the ignition switch. I was told both are on the same terminal. Anyway, it fixed mine.

i checked the wires and none are burnt or broken and ignition is new, unless the switch is somewhere else

gyman98 Jan 28, 2012 05:28 PM

You need to check the fusible links with a test light, the ones by the drivers side hood hinge. I "think" its the pink one

Reapertura Jan 28, 2012 06:47 PM

ok thanks, the only one i can identify by color is orange

Reapertura Jan 29, 2012 04:58 PM

i replaced the pink fusible link and still nothing? anymore ideas

MARF75 Jan 29, 2012 06:11 PM

I thought it was orange but can't swear to it.

Try taking off the plastic on the steering column and checking under there.follow back off the ignition switch. Pink/black wire and black/orange wires and look for burnt plugs. Hope it helps

Fusible link. Had to replace mine the other night. It's the one that won't have power on the firewall side of the link when you probe it with a test light

Reapertura Jan 29, 2012 06:56 PM

ok ill check more tomorrow thanks for the input.

checked all links and they are all good. but I have no power to the fuse for the blower i think.

MARF75 Feb 6, 2012 05:57 AM

Check the above mentioned wires in the column!
They are probably burnt at the ignition switch and not getting power to the fuse block

These are old trucks. Heater fan motor would be considered a consumable as they have internal parts that normally wear when used. Power to it goes through 3 switches and a fuse, along with a dozen or more connectors, all of which can fail. The coarse stranded wires going through the flexible wire loom in the door hinges are pretty famous for breaking.

Get a wiring diagram, a meter or test light, and have at it in a logical fashion, or you'll either go broke, or accidentally crank in more problems trying to fix it.

I'd post a link to diagrams, but I have no idea what yer working on.

Also, I am a wiring moron, and I got my hands on a FSM (factory service manual) and it`s priceless! Get one if you don`t have one, all the diagrams are in there.

Ditto that, ... I got a digital one (CD) from Geno's for about $35, ... this way always with me in one form or another, ..
