back to stock height

My truck has 4" blocks in the back and I guess just shocks up front, what do I have to do to bring it down to stock height?

SIXSLUG May 14, 2011 01:03 PM

If its level you have more than shocks up front. Shocks don't have anything to do with lift.

The rear blocks in the stock height trucks are still pretty tall. The front springs may be +4-5" over stockers. In order to drop it back down you'll need a set of stock rear blocks and u-bolts and shorter shocks. For the front you will want stock springs, there are different load capacity springs and they are different left to right so get the correct ones. You will also need stock height front shocks.

Consider wht will need to be done to the steering linkage/components also, as over two inches of lift requires these be modified also, usually lenghtaned and or inverted.

No I like the stock hieght leveled out in the front, its just the right height for me. What are some good aftermarket stock replacement shocks that are better then stock for these trucks? Should I just take it to a lift shop and ask them to take a look and tell me what has to be done?

Stock height front end sits about 2 " lower than rear. Yours may have spring spacers if it sitting level on the level.

Everyone raves about Bilsteins, so if you don't have a lot of time to read opinions just get them.

I run lifetime Monroe HD's. I get them from Les Schwab and I can't tell the diff between Dad's bilsteins. The Monroes were about $10 cheaper each.

Ill look into those, when I graduated from highschool I had a SCSB silverado with a 2-4 drop with monroes and those things rode beautifully. I believe it has a spacer, (big black disk sitting on top of spring?) with ranchos and like I said big ol 4" blocks in the back. I plan to get it dirty but I have no need for the lift and the massive 37's. Plus Id like to get some good power into the truck. Thanks for your help sixslug

No problem. I'll measure my stock rear blocks and post the height.

That sounds like you have a leveling kit on the front. Depending on how thick it is you may not need to replace the springs.

TheNeckasaurus May 16, 2011 06:13 PM

Thatd definitely be nice, let me know about those blocks and thanks again.

SIXSLUG May 17, 2011 01:36 PM

My rear blocks are 4 11/16", stockers.

Does your truck have re-arced springs? 8 3/4" of blocks sounds pretty tall...

TheNeckasaurus May 17, 2011 01:42 PM

IM starting to think I dont have a lift at all. Cause my blocks look at around 4" there is no way they are 8" tall. Let me take a picture of the rear and front setup and ill post it.

Looks like a stock rear setup and a leveling kit up front. That's the rubber-looking thing at the top of the coil spring.

TheNeckasaurus May 17, 2011 03:21 PM

I feel stupid and relieved. Thanks guys, sorry for wasting your time.

Backwoods Bumpers May 18, 2011 07:44 AM

Haha, no call for that! That was a legitimate question. That's what this board is for.

You may have an add-a-leaf in the rear. You have an extra spring in there compared to mine.

The front is definietely a levelling block on top of the spring.

I have never sen a fenderwell cut out like that on the dodge, may have had flares on it?

The only dumb question is the one not asked!!

Glad I could help.
