Rims and fixing stuff

Okay so I have heard stuff from lots of different people in terms of second gen rims on a first gen I have heard that you don't need spacers or different lug nuts you just need wider tires but from what I have read to put second gen rims on my truck one needs different lug nuts and maybe spacers if any 1st gen guys with 2nd gen rims on their trucks are on this forum please help me out here I just bought the rims and would like to swap em asap thanks again for all your help in the past when I have had questions
