Is anyone running 255/80/17 tires on a Dually

Just wondering if anyone has bought a set of the new BFG M/T KM2 in 255/80/17 and how they are working out for you???? I am looking at buying a set and any info would be great!

There are a few guys on CF that are still waiting for the first sets of 255/80/17 BFG KM2's to be delivered. I don't think anyone has gotten a firm release date yet.

Whats the matter? Didn't believe me in your other thread that they aren't available yet?

They are available, just checked with my local tire shop and they have 9 on hand for $230 each. Just wanting to see if anyone else had a set installed yet and how they like them.

Is anyone out there got a set of the new BFG's yet??? Would love some feedback and pics of them on a rig before I go and spend $1300.

so how tall would that be? any wider?

Ernst223 Sep 20, 2009 03:53 PM

My tire dealer said it is like 33.3 tall and 10.3 wide.

I would love to see a set of these on some H2 rims with a SWR. It would be taller / skinner then the stock 265/70's but the H2 rims would probably push them out to give the truck a nice stance..

Sorry I really don't have anything of value to add to your question, I am in need of tires and taller (for looks and rpms), narrower for less resistance and weight is really what I am looking for.... and to top it off, I just ran across a set of H2 chome wheels that the guy wants peanuts for...

FYI
heres the measurements for:
265/70-17= 10.43" wide and 31.6" tall
285/70-17= 11.22" wide and 32.7" tall
255/70-17= 10.03" wide and 33.06" tall

Ernst223 Sep 21, 2009 06:03 PM

I am interested too.

I called a few places that didnt have listings for them, but I want to get these asap,,,, i need new rubber before it rains again.

four wheel parts wholesalers has them for $194 each on their website.

Do you guys think a spacer would be prudent? the gap between the duals should close by 20mm. Think a 1/4" spacer would be good? Anybody make steel spacers?

And,
Anybody with these know if they fit a 3rd gen well without any lift?

Thanks,

I just got a set of these today, Ive got 8000 lbs on my rear axle, 80 psi in the tires with 3/4 inch or so of gap at the bottom of duals. No rubbing on the front axle. No lift. Shouldnt rub, as 315/70/17 will just about clear with no lift, and these are a lot smaller.

Diesel Junkie Oct 20, 2009 11:04 PM

Sweet.
I ordered a set yesterday, but I will not have them till the first week in November.

Any reason to run a spacer?

Thanks,

BlueDually Oct 21, 2009 10:06 AM

Not at all. No need for a spacer.
