Wastegate

Anyone know a good place to buy an aftermarket wastegate. I am looking for one that makes the noticable shwoosh sound. Mine now dumps at 42 psi but with no real sound.

What you are referring to is a blow-off valve. A totally different device from a waste-gate.

- A waste-gate bypasses some of the exhaust gas around the given turbocharger's turbine (the hot side) for possibly more than one reason (boost control, drive pressure control, etc). As such, the exhaust gas that it passes it typically plumbed back into the exhaust system, downstream of the turbo it's bypassing.

- A blow-off valve vents excess boost pressure directly to the atmosphere through a pretty little horn thus the sound.

In the case of the CTD, the blow-off deal might be nothing more than a "Bling Thing" . . . .. . I think. [duhhh]

So say the voices. [coffee]

I just think it gives a distinct cool sound when you are under load.

Im pretty sure thats just the sound of his turbo spooling down.
14cm housing?

Oh and straight exhaust!!! Mufflers kill all the great turbo noise.

just the turbo spooling down, with the 14cm housing i was running, now with the 12cm wastegated housing that noise is gone if the wastegate opens
