Tailgate issues...
 

I purchased a bed from an 01 but the rubber nobs that the tailgate sets on are different from my original bed. The ones from my old bed were round and the new bed has oval round ones... Can I just purchase the piece for my tailgate to convert it? I'm really hating not having a tailgate!!!

Have you tried your local pick and pull???That is where I found some used ones.....And a lot cheaper too.

Brother had to do this and used ones off old gate. Guess you don't have those parts.

I took my tailgate off one and drove into town, forgetting to take that part off before I left. Lost it. P/N: 55274936AC from the dealer gets you one side for about $5.50 for your 01 bed.

I have the rubber things I need the female piece from the tailgate. When I took my old tailgate off my old bed it was rusted so the female piece broke in the process of getting it loose.

There again, this is a dealer item that still can be purchased. I'm afraid by being a dealer item you going to pay through the nose.
For anyone out there that need the plastic pieces in the tail gate hinge/pivot, I found one of those "HELP" kits made by Dorman that has both sides for about 5 bucks. P/N: 38641.
