Headlight related on '03
 

My headlight lenses are getting a haze or something on them. You can feel an edge to it and see it as a defined edge blob on both lights.

What the heck is it and what will make it go away?

Update: My truck got detailed today. The man tried at my urging several things on my right side headlight.

Now I think the goofed up places are etched rather than on top.

The right side headlight is for all purposes ruined.

Now, not so much why as WHAT CAN I POSSIBLY DO to keep it from happening when I get a new (used) light?

And a few more thoughts. If it was something ON the light, why was nowhere else on the truck affected? Likewise if something etched the lights, why didn't the chromed plastic grill or other parts suffer?

I am just a might discouraged about this. As I get older (47 right now) I see that I need more light at night. Not less which is what I've got just now.

Okay, I had nothing to lose.

I started with 320 grit Wet or Dry sandpaper. Worked up to 2000 grit. Then used a buffer with compound.

It doesn't look like new, but is SEVERAL hundred percent better!

I have more work to do, but I have made GREAT strides!

brake fluid if you wanna be cheap, or better yet, plastX by meguiars. PlastX works wonders on clear plastic

I believe Geno's Garage sells some sort of clear headlight protection, I have seen them advertised on their site, but have no experience with the product.

I also use Meguiars plastic polish. Works great in polishing up the headlamps on the old Fords around here.

I vote for the PlastX,my wife has a little tracker with the drop top and plastic windows,when we got it you could hardly see out of them,I used Windex Stoner and a few other things to no advail,used PlastX made them like new.

Going to see about getting some PlastX!!!!

Brother in law used PlastX on his airplane windows and said it worked well.
