What primer to paint aluminum camper?

I'm going to be painting our camper. The current paint is all faded and peeling. The body of the camper is aluminum so that's good. What primer/paint should I use so the paint sticks well? I guess I could go ahead and sand all the old paint off, but I really don't feel like it. It would be better if I could just sand the parts that need to be sanded, then air spray new paint on the existing paint. I'm not going for a showroom look here. Just something that'll make the camper look nicer than it is now.

Get a steam cleaner and blast it clean... then let it dry good and sand what you need to sand smooth with 400gr>>> Then you can scotchbrite the whole thing and spray on a good sealer and then shoot it.

they make a special converter for alum so the paint will stick. if you want the paint job to last strip it all off or you will stand a chance of the old paint peeling after the new is on and loseing it all. if you use a self ecthing prime it will do the trick for you .it will stick real nice and paint will stick to it . ive used it on bread trucks alotnever had one peel yet.just my 2 cents matt

Thanks Matt. Is there any self-etching prime brand/type you recommend?

I second the water cleaner. You can also add acid or sand to the water for additional abasiveness
