Oil Filter Brands
I just bought a new (used) truck, changed all the fluids and I am using a LuberFiner oil and fuel filter.<br>After reading some of the info here I am wondering if these filters are ok to use. This is my first diesel and the last thing I want to do is make a costly mistake.

That's what brand I use. It's one of the few recommended by Cummins.<br><br>Just remember Cummins owns Fleetguard so it's no wonder they recommend them.

If you go to the website they have an online catolog that you can go into and get the correct filters for our trucks, air, fuel and oil filters. 8)<br><br>Darrell

Have any of you guys ever cut an oil filter in half and look at the "guts"? I tried it with several filters once...fram, NAPA, Amsoil, Motorcraft, purlator, Pennzoil, Wix. There is a major difference in construction and filter media. Very educational and messy!! ;D

Just great. I changed the oil today and put a FRAM filter on for the first time only to read the website where it says "Fram has been known to come apart and cause many engine problems in 1st gen trucks" lol Screw me. I'm going to the store tomorrow and buying a purolator.
I noticed a little smoke coming out of the breather tube before my oil change. Wonder what exactly causes it. It was very little amount.

SuperDuty, I am amechanic for a big pipeline company, and probably 90% of the filters we use are Fram. We run big Cat and Cummins motors. Our machines take an intense beating and we do regular oil sampling analysis. As far as I know we have never had a Fram filter come apart like you described.
