Oil Analysis??

Do any of you send an oil sample away for analysis after an oil change?
If so where do you send it and what is all required? Do you need to pick up a sample kit from somewhere? Will Cummins do an analysis? I would like to get mine done!

Cummins, CAT, and all the big rig shops have the kits.....if i'm not mistaken even if you go too international or some other shop like that it still gets sent too either cummins or CAT.

Metrotech. Really good lab. Alot of my clients use them for their industrial machinery. I toured their lab many years back and its a pretty neat place.

I got a cummins sample kit in front of me right now......its a Metro Tech bottle. So you have to send it in and wait a week or 2. was like $31. I usually do fleetbrake on 52st SE. it is $20 and while you wait. they have the machine right there. Finning has their own lab in Edmonton, IIRC. or they use Metro Tech in Calgary.

Blackstone Laboratories will send you a free kit which you then mail back to them.

You'll have to figure out how much extra shipping would be, but they state the bottle itself is 1.98 here. I have a sample to mail on Monday.

I get my sample kits from Amsoil and mail them away. I've taken three samples in 35,000 kms on my 6.7 litre. All very good results except for the last which was showing way more copper than in previous samples.

In Edmonton, there is also a place called Fluid Life as well as another called SSCI Fluids Analysis who are tied in with Staveley Fluid Analysis.

Just mailed mine out yesterday... cost was a little over $2 for regular mail if that will help give you any idea what it would cost to ship from there.

I live in Calgary and have been using Blackstone for over a year now and I am very pleased with the turn around time. They also keep a running count of values so that you keep a baseline and see how the motor is doing and how the oil is holding up TBN.

Try them.
