Oh crap i put E85 in my truck!

While talking to my wife on the phone i stoped to get fuel and grabbed the yellow handle and starting pumping, i got 10 gallons in before i noticed what i did. So if i have to drain it does anybody know if there is a drainplug or can i use the fuel pump to pump all of it out. Or do i need to completely drop the tank? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Mity vac makes a nice fluid evacuator comes with small diameter draw straws in the kit part #07300 works with shop air . You should be able to draw most of the fuel out through the fill line. This thing works fast well worth the money. Then just fill it up it is alot easier than taking everything apart.

I would drop the tank. Even if the motor wasn't running. I think 10 gals of E85 is a little to much to try diluting with diesel. It might be a pain in the tail, But that cummins wont like that E85 one bit. Drain the tank, get some fresh fuel in there. If you did run the truck, remove the lift pump to injection pump line and get fresh fuel there before you hook it back up and I think you'll be good to go.

Don't know if '06 has a rollover ball that blocks getting a siphon hose down the fill spout but if it does easiest way to drain the tank is to crawl underneath, remove the fill hose from the tank and siphon it out from there.

I wouldn't drive it and wouldn't worry much about getting every last drop out or changing the filter if you haven't started it, just fill it up all the way with #2 before you do.
Hopefully the station will let you dispose of the mixed fuel.

Thanks for all the answers. I will be removeing the filler hose, and siphoning out the fuel, then opening the drain for the filter and cycling it a few times then changing the filter and filling it up. Also i will be running some power service cleaner and 2 cycle. Should be fine after that. Thanks to all.

Grandpa put gas in dads one time and drove it.... We had to drop the tank completely drain it then put it all back together. Once diesel was put back in it ir ran rough for 5 min. hitting and missing but finally smoothed out and ran.

I did it.

I did the same but with 7 gals. of 87 octane. Had it towed to the dealer and made out fine. They discovered a collapsed tank(this was my old '99) due to failure of receiving dealer to remove a cap on the tank vent which keeps crude from getting in under transport. They put in 5 gals and I prayed all the way to the nearest station.

Sounds like a familiar tale! I'd owned my '93 for 3 hours when the pump jockey at the FasGas filled it with regular! I never turned the engine over so all we did was crawl underneath to separate the filler hose from the tank. We siphoned out all we could, hooked the hose back up and put 10gals of diesel in the tank. That was several tanks of fuel and many miles/kilometers ago.

I've siphoned fuel out of my 06 before-not a big deal-but you'll never get the bottom of it clean with a hose.

Do what you said & siphon out of the pickup tube-the return tube stops at 3/8 of a tank...so make sure its the pickup one.
