Hey Guys,
How often do you change your fuel filters? Also, where is the fuel filter on my 2002? Thanks.

Re:How often to change fuel filter?

I do mine every other oil change... might be overkill, but filters are cheap! (oil change every 3 - 3500k)

If you look on the drivers side, you'll see it. Or, find the banjo that goes into the injection pump and follow the hose back. It connects into the bottom of the filter housing.

The cap is easy to remove. You'll need a 1 1/8" 6 point socket. Do not use the square hole in the center of the cap.

Re:How often to change fuel filter?

Buy the filters from Cummins.
Do NOT buy them from the dealer.

Cummins= $12.00
Dealer= $40.00 (?)

On a 2002, it's located on the drivers side of the engine, in a big cannister.
Here's a link (click on underlined section : )

24 valve Fuel Filter Change Instructions

Says for 2000-2001 but same for 2002.

Re:How often to change fuel filter?

Chuck, you're correct. Although the 2002 manual shows a square hole in the cap center, the actual part has a round hole. Thanks for the correction.

-Tom-
