np 205 kicking out of gear

hey guys, the 205 transfer case in my 79 dump (converted to diesel with 91 powertrain) keeps kicking out of gear. I followed the service manual on how to adjust the linkage. It stays in four low just fine, but will kick out of four hi and two hi when i lay off the throttle. Any body got any ideas? Like something easy so i dont have to pull the transfercase haha thanks in advance
Evan
