not so black smoke

So I just got back in town last Thursday from a month long business trip. I had my girlfriend drive the truck once a week while I was gone.

I will start off by saying I have the smarty jr. programmer set on economy and I can usually see a decent amount of smoke.

The first time I drove when I got back I noticed that the smoke didn't look a black as I remember it being. I made it all the way to Saturday before putting the Smarty on tow setting. This is where I am showing some concern, I can't seem to get the same smoke that I remember getting. One idea I had was that the diesel was going bad. I don't think this any more because I filled up Saturday and have driven 200 miles since then which would have cleared all of the old diesel from the lines and still no black stuff. The only other thing I could think of is the heat it has been high 90's low 100's since I have been back. Today is a lot cooler so I will be able to tell if it's the heat.

My question is has anyone seen anything like this before or have any ideas on what it could be?

The truck has 15000 miles I always fill up at the same station, ULSD. Every thing but the smarty is in my sig.

I've noticed the same lately. While driving in the morning I've noticed a grayish smoke and in the heat of the afternoon its solid black. I just assumed it was the outside temp and humidity or the little bit of bio-diesel I've been running. Truck still runs great.

Checked the smole today with the cooler weather and still grey with a little more black but not like I was having before.

Does anyone know if summer diesel is different then winter, spring or fall diesel? I think gas gets an additive in the winter but I don't know if diesel is the same.

I apologize for misunderstanding. I would imagine if there was a problem you would know by now.
