New sdd3250 dual friction dual disc
We at South Bend Clutch heard the call for the organic dual disc clutch but wanted to offer the best in both durability and drive-ability. How do we achieve that? In our 50 years of experience we knew that running an all organic dual disc would have its problems. The intermediate (center) plate is approximately ½ thick whereas the pressure plate and flywheel castings are three times that. Running two friction surfaces on one thin casting will increase the temperature to that casting. Organic burn point is approximately 550 degrees whereas ceramic can reach 1100 degrees. The immediate engagement points when the clutch is released for takeoff are the outside points of a dual disc clutch, pressure plate and flywheel. Being that there is only one friction surface running to these two points, and the fact that the pressure plate and flywheel castings are much thicker than the center plate, the temperatures cannot reach that of the center plate. This is why organic will work to the pressure plate and flywheel and not to the center plate.
We at South Bend Clutch feel we have reached a milestone in the clutch industry and hope that you will enjoy our hard work at being the industry leader in research and development of clutches for the diesel market.

When I spoke with you about the 3250 vs the 3600 you told me that the new style was coming out. I went with the 3250. I was just wondering when yall started putting them out in the public. Mine went in the truck in December. Probably not the same clutch, but, man I love it none the less.

We need a clutch for the G56 and are now thinking about the 3250 but have heard of rattle while backing up with a load? Perhaps this was the old style. If so just wondering how to tell the difference between the old and new?

Rattle is caused from the pulses in your engine and they were a problem on the old style clutches...Southbend has come a long way in quieting those down and this NEW clutch is available form the DTR Store

I previously looked in the DTR store and all that appears to be there is the old 3250 with ceramic on both sides or is that really the new one and the organic side is not show or mentioned in the description?

Can always expect a great product from Southbend. I hear nothing but good about them. On that same note, the single disc Con OFE on my 1st gen with an NV5600 is holding up very well with just over 2 years on it!
Thank you, Peter and Southbend! Keep up the great work and innovation!

We have one of those new ones behind a 525 hp 6.7 truck that mainly sees towing - it backs easily and has never slipped loaded or otherwise. It drives nicer than stock too. I love it so far. I am working on talking the old man into a fluidamper to help the neutral rattle.

This is good news. I'm on the fence between their new Con OHD or the new dual disc. I need a smooth engagement especially in reverse. I don't have a free spin kit and can't use low range backing under my cabover.
I've driven one 3250 with the older pre-neoprene noise isolators before. Manners were pretty neat but the racket killed it for me.
I'll be ordering one or the other through the store here come Spring. We'll be heading into northeastern AZ and up to southwest Colorado. I definitely don't want the clutch slipping A 11,000'.
Any other reviews out there on the new dual disc or Con HD?
