Wink New Quad XZT is on- - -Opinion's/Remarks!

Hello all,

I have just installed my new XZT-Tow Module on the Truck and here are my initial impressions!

1. The Truck definatly has a new rattle to it at idle and while cruising. Sounds like the 2nd Gen Trucks More!!!! It's kinda cool!

2. I can tell that the power and drivability of the truck has improved. The truck is SOOOOOOO SMOOTH while accelerating regularly and while mashing the motor.

3. Smoke---- ----- Yota didn't know what was infront of him after 4th ! Not real heavy but definatly more than before.

4. Overall Power------ It's good at most! Of course I know that I'm running the Standard XZT Tow Module------- I just thought that a extra 100lbft of TQ would raise the pressure on the noodle going back in the seat a little more!

5. Problems------- I have noticed the last 2 times that Ihave started the truck that it was rougher than stock. I let the Truck sit for probably 8-10 seconds before I crank?????? No different than the way I started the truck before. YES--- I have the Hard Start Re-Flash already on the Truck!! Which by the way works great on the G56 Tranny Trucks!

6. MPG-- I WILL BE DOING A FULL TANK TEST THIS WEEK TO SEE WHAT THE ACTUAL GAINS WILL OR WILL NOT BE!!!!! This will form my opinion of the XZT that I will share with everyone here. ( I will drive the truck the same way that I drive it every week back and fourth to work. Right now I average 17.4 MPG with the new ULSD Winter Fuel (HAND CALCULATED)! SO---we will see just what the XZT is made of with the UP TO 4 MPG Claim!!!! If it is at all possible for the Module to help the Truck Gain even 2 MPG I will be happy. My driving is mostly flat with some rolling hills. 20% City and 80% Highway!!!

7. ***** For all of those that are looking at the XZT------I will have your information ASAP!!!

---------------OH I removed the silencer ring on the Turbo and cannot tell a bit of difference ! I will be making my own Intake/TQ Tube this weekend. I like the new Directional Louvers that are in the Intake now right in front of the Turbo. I will keep these as they look to improve the directional flow of the air into the Turbo!!!! The silencer ring also looked to do the same, Instead of just quiteing the Turbo Sucking Sound!!---- I had a Tru-Flow Intake on my 03 SO that made the Turbo LOUD------- I may reinstall the Silencer Ring once I get the Intake on!!!

JB

I got one on the way. I'll be using it with the Commander I got.
I'm not a huge fan of moding up a new under warranty truck but I just had to give this a try at $269.00 bucks. I'll be pulling a 12,000lb 5th wheel next year and I want a little more umffff on the hills.
I'm not looking to tear the truck apart and play games with my warranty, I hope this thing is what it looks to be.
I'll be interested in your findings.

I can already tell you that the ummph that you are wanting while pulling that 12000 pounds will be there with the XZT!! The Chip is so smooth compared to stock!! It makes driving the truck allot easier. I know that there is more power on tap and that the fuel mileage should go up because there is less throttle input to make this beast go. What Tranny do you have??? I have the G56 Manual and the engine seems to hold the revs a little longer than stock and that helps in the shifting department. I have pulled 16000 with this Truck so far while stock and was impressed. I cant wait to do that with the XZT-----I'll bet 5th Gear will not be needed where I go! I'll post the results probably Thursday or Friday of this week. Got to burn a whole tank of Fuel before I can post the results. JB

I have owned 2 Auto Tranny Trucks but have never had a XZT installed on one. I did however have an 03 that had the 4.10 Gear's and that was a pulling machine even with the 47re-- ! I hated that Tranny!-----Anyway, you will definatly be able to feel the difference. Not incredible power increase, but a definate increase. ----- How's the weather in Cali??????? It's rainy and COOOoooold here in NC!

Oh and I wouldnt worry about the 12000 pounds and the 48re-------it is capable of handling more than that---Trust me, been there and done that!----Dads Dually with about 26,000 behind pulling 3-5% Grades! Tranny would get warm, slow down, cool off, get going again!

Please let me know what you think of yours when you get it put in with your automatic-transmissioned truck.

2005 dodge 2500 4wd slt, quad cab short box with brute force intake, and straight pipe at 1500miles

before quad....17.8mpg

after installing quad at 4000 miles......16.3mpg

I drive very conservitive. I don't go over 60mph ever. I am a little dissappointed in the box. I will however keep it till I get 12,000 miles on the truck, then will see what it can do. I expected with my combo to get atleast 20mpg.

--- That dosen't sound good at all!!!! A decrease in MPG while driving conservative is BAD!!! Oh-well, I will know in a couple of days! I have 8256 on the Truck right now!

I didn't notice a huge increase in power when I installed mine either...'Till I took it back off to get a reflash!As for pulling power,you will definarly notice when you're pulling.I can now leave it in O/D on 6% grades.EGT's are @1250 now,in O/D on those grades.Before I had to downshift to 3rd,& was @ 1400EGT.What a difference.Go Quad!

pulling 8%

when I leave town for warmer climes this week, I will have to pull an 8% hill that is over a mile long and twists and turn. it even starts with a turn so you can't get a high speed run at it. This is the worst hill on our route, although climbing out of SLC to Evanston is a serious pull, and a long one. Mostly 6% I think. The trailer is about 7,000 lbs, plus the ATV is in the truck bed. We're pretty loaded up, but not carrying water, since it is pretty cold.
I expect to have no trouble unless the roads are slick.

Hankpac, You have pretty much the same rig as mine, except for mine being a 3500. I pull a 25' long toyhauler thats 7500lbs +. total Trk & TH full of fuel and goodies is 15,400 without me or the wife. Pulling the Grape Vine Pass (5 Frwy) in central Ca. is a piece of cake with my truck full stock. I can pass any thing with power to spare.
With the XZT on your / our truck(s) we should be able to fly up 6% with a 7000lbs trailer
