Need some help: Brake light and ABS light won't go off

Snow and ice here. Was spinning the rear tires to get up hill tonight (ice covered roads) and the Brake light and ABS came on and would not go off. I unplugged both fuses to see if it would reset but no (1 under hood, 1 on side of console). It is a 2002 3500 QC 3500 4x4 5spd 4.10 LSD. I checked the P code and it shows a "P done". Now when I hit the brakes the brakes lock up (no ABS front or rear). Any ideas?????????

Check your sensors on your front wheels and the one on your rear pumpkin the ice may have messed one up. Thats all I can think of. Cattle hauler had a problem with his you might check out his post.

Re:Need some help: Brake light and ABS light won't go off

I had this happen on my 99 and I just ignored it thinking that a sensor had just gone, and I would get used to the light being on. After a few hundred miles of this I pushed the brake pedal and had none. Pulled off the highway and into a brake shop using the emergency brake. I really don't remember what they said the problem was, but get it fixed. That makes for a rude awakening. There was also none of this spongy or surging stuff, they just went from working to gone.

if the computer finds a problem with the ABS system the lights will come on. If the computer doesn't pick no errors up on three starts then the forth start up the lights should go out. If the light stay on for 4-5 starts then something is wrong with a sensor.

"rich" is right there is a sensor on both front wheels going into the front hub and one on the pumpkin.

See if the lights go out on the forth startup if not then post back
Cattle Hauler: You are the man! Thanks...like you said the fourth start it stayed on for a minute and in about 50 feet it turned off. Hasn't come on again. Even better, the ABS brakes work once again. Thanks again!

Here in the Foothills, NC we have 5" snow, then almost 1" of ice. Let me just say that a dually in this type of conditions... not to good. Almost had to get the tractor out and pull the truck up the driveway. Trees and branches down everywhere. Most places no power, no phone. And, it feels like I have 2wd. Our last 2500 CTD was much better in these conditions but then again we had BFG All Terrains.
