i need a door latch
we got a 92 d 250 extended cab and the door latch is broke its cold out and a bungee strap only works for so long. heres the thing noone around here has a door latch for sale except the dealer and they want $150 for it, and i cant find one on the internet, its all door handles or lock actuators. is there another model of vehicle that shares the same door latch or does anyone have one for sale?

I believe that dodge pickups from like 79 to 94 are all the same. I mounted a door from an early 80s pickup and it bolted right up. I am sure that a dodge nut will correct me soon......Mark

I know this is an old post, my apologies. I have been SCOURING the internet for a passenger door latch. I can't open the door anymore, no matter what I try. Twisting the key on the outside while hitting the power lock, everything else. Hopefully I can get it open to replace it.
Thanks for the link. Will let y'all know if it fits.

My donor 93 had a similar issue. Turned out the door handle button had seized at a point that was just a hair in the opening function. Therefore the door handle inside, or the button or power lock actuator would not work.
I eventually had to carefully wrestle the door panel off, while door was closed...not fun! And then disconnect all the linkage and rods from the latch mechanism. I was then able to push the correct linkage and get the door open.
I replaced the seized door handle button and all is well!

Ugh I've read to many contradicting "fits". Have heard the Ram Van to 97 is the same, never heard that the Ram 250/2500 is the same to 96.
My issue is not the handle, problem is when locked. If I can get it to "thunk" past a certain point I can open it every time from both outside and inside.
Hopefully that link provided above (chryslerpartsdirect.com) comes through.

BTW mine is doing the exact same thing, maybe I'll pull the panel off today and have a look.

You have to make sure the latch you get is for a powered lock or not. 1st gen dakota latches work but the lever for the power lock is different and will have to be swapped from your old lock.
If you dont have powered locks, you can use pretty much anything.
Also, LMC has them.
