Go with the scissor lift for sure. Yes they will haul more than they can dump but you can always upgrade to a gas motor running the pump to get more power. I used to throw a cumalong over the gooseneck and hook it to a 10k hook on the dump box to help get loads up. A warn winch would be the correct way to get it up. I had lots of dozer drivers help my box up doing storm cleanup. You get what you pay for. I would recommend texas bragg, big tex, pj in that order. Check out the texas bragg gate latch syle, its way better than say a pj. No one ever checks loads if your not runnin on the hiway so the triple axle would be cool for those heavy loads. I had a tandum dually set up on my 20' trailer and put about 20k in it when it was rated for 10k. The axles got a little bendy on tight turns trying to get away from the loading area. Dually axles are way stronger than singles in my opinion because of the distribution. Never seen a busted dually and have seen a few busted singles.

I also have a 7x12 dumper ( 12k) with the scissor lift. But, mine is a bumper hitch. Legally it is 4.5 tons but I had 6 ton of gravel on it this past fall. It handled it just fine. It even dumped it after a little help from a pry bar. Just don't get caught by the DOT with that much on it..

Brakes are the main concern. IMO you can always overload them as long as they will dump.

Ocsurf, I've been looking at them from a business angle and for me, I'll be going the roll-off route when I get mine. It's allot more pricey but it will allow me to put small dumpsters on my job sites and have a flat deck for my skidsteer too.

Those role offs with the flat deck option are cool but pricey like you said. The thing that I don't like about that set up is that I am in the building buisness not the disposal buisiness and if I spent more money I would want to see it produce. I always prefer the roll off company does the dirty work when they can get one in the spot.

I agree with you but, I've got a couple customers that typically have lots so small or overbuilt that there usually isn't room for a standard size dumpster. They need one but the rates for the small ones are nearly as much as for the full size ones. I'm just looking to fit the niche'. I don't like the idea of leaving a dump trailer on the job, too many part could come up missing.

definitely look into getting either a tri-axle or tandum dual gooseneck setup. you can eaisly overload the dandum axle trailers and that leads to problems. a local guy ripped the front axle off due to overloading and rough terrain.

I got a 14 foot TrailTech dump trailer. Its super heavy duty (3,350 lbs empty) and it can lift 10,600 lbs. I'm in the disposal business, so the lift was important to me. In my research, I looked at others, (BigTex, etc), but went with TrailTech, it was $3,000 more, but IMHO its worth it, I can't afford downtime... It was the only one that did not use channel iron. Just my .02...
