Question how much does a 5.9 cummins weigh?

does anyone know how much a 5.9 cummins weighs? I was wanting to buy some engine stands, but I didnt know what one actually weighed fully dressed with fuel system and everything ready to roll. thanks

12 valve - 960lbs
24 valve Common Rail - 1170lbs
24 valve VP44 - ???

Figure about 1200 lbs. If you mount it from the back side of the engine, its gonna sag, no matter what. Mount it from the side, and will stand up much better.

I'd be curious from where the extra 200 lbs. came from between a 12v and 24v. I know the 24v and 12v head don't weight much different, and the 50 lbs. p-pump would add some fat to the 12v number.

I would be interested to know what tthe 5.9 weighs compared to a 7.3 PowerStroke. Anybody know?

powerstrokes are aluminum heads right? i also heard that the 12v cranks wiegh over 125lbs. now theres some rotating mass.

24v with vp44 weighs 1600lbs fully loaded.
as for the other engines check again, those are weight on the engines not fully loaded.
Weighed the engine at a certified scale at a wrecking yard. The engine had just came out of the truck.

7.3 is cast iron as well as the 6.0 I am pretty certain is cast iron as well. I know they are.

Is there a tranny and t-case attached to that engine as well? No way engine alone weighs 1600 lbs.

agreed no way a B cummins weighed 1600 lbs engine alone. am M11 would weight 1600lbs.

while we're at it. heres 12v 6BTA and 6CTA --- for the record a '91-'94 6C dressed & wet weighs less than 1500lbs.

oh ok so is it the duramax with aluminum heads? and can anyone confirm the weight of the 12v crankshaft? i am still wondering if its really that heavy?

I don't have a scale, but I can tell you the crank is well over 100 lbs.
