As for tonight. I basically attached everything to the motor that is supposed to be attached.
converter bolts and cover
starter
I got the crank breathers figured out and installed how I want them
vac pump hoses
fuel lines/return lines
wiring to tach sensor and alternator
put the tach sensor in place
ran a bunch of wiring
cleaned up a bunch of wiring
then I did more wiring... it took forever
ran and hooked up the fuel pressure, drive pressure, boost and pyro lines up
tightened the upper motor mount nuts up.
Got the main battery wires in place and the driver side battery in place, I did not hook up the grounds yet. Don't want any accidents!

What else... I don't even know I'm too tired.

Tomorrows work will consist of putting the front end together and the trans mounts etc. getting the downpipe clamp on. fluids in it, make sure the wiring i did actually works, and maybe even fire it up and break the motor in. We'll see how far I get tomorrow...

Tonight's pictures When I was done.

Driver side wiring I cleaned up the other day when I finished off the pusher pump. Lift pump is up there too, I attached the line for that tonight

New tach location with the modified brackets. Looks good, except for the lack of paint

And the main focus of the night. Right in that area... Most of the wiring was in this area too. Everything looks a little chaotic but it doesn't in person I swear. The way I routed everything makes sense. I'm actually really **** about that sort of thing...

And that's where I'm at. Getting pretty close now...

I honestly have no idea what colour it's actually called. It's a generic blue 500F engine paint. Duplicolor I think.

And yup, 4r100. They are good transmissions... Wish it had another gear though. 5r110 would be nice.

Too many pictures in this thread... takes forever to scroll to the bottom!

Anyway...

Welp, tonight I almost got it running. I finished off the wiring and got the front end together, save the grille, bumper and headlights. I have to replace one of the headlight pigtails. Had to order one from Napa. Should be in tomorrow. Coolant is even in it now.

Has power but not to the starter yet. The TPS is working exactly like it should. So is the pusher pump and valet. I left my volt meter some place that I don't remember so once I find that I'll verify power to the FSS and KSB and if that checks out I'll be good to go, except the power to the starter issue but that's a simple fix

It seems I did manage to drip a little coolant as I was putting it in

powerstroke intercooler, of course I happened to have one with plastic end tanks. It's held up so far. Seen over 50psi

Nice work.
What is that controller on your pump for?

What controller? The thing on the throttle bracket is the factory dodge TPS. The thing at the back is an electronic valet I bought from dap.

Still haven't put the front end back together but it's alive!

It REALLY likes timing with the bigger bowls but stock spray angle sticks. I had it a tooth advanced and all the way away from the head and it had a miss and hazed REAL bad. Hit the ksb and it got better. Not enough timing! Bad like I've never seen before with the haze. Because it ran better with the ksb I pushed it all the way to the head and it purrs beautifully. It's real snappy too but it still hazes pretty bad. I'm hoping it has more to do with the mismatched injectors and pistons than the pistons just hazing real bad because they're marines. Could be the head too. Sometimes that happens. Or possibly the bigger valves, who knows.

I guess we'll find out if it's the mismatched injectors/pistins when I get the new injectors from hungry diesel as they match the pistons.

In any case, I'm not changing the pistons or the head so... Guess I'll just have to live with it if the new injectors don't help. Advancing the timing did help with the haze a lot but it does still have that white/blue eye burning dieselly exhaust.

I can't express how awesome priming a dry fuel system is with an electric pump! I just pumped the lift pump until I felt it grab fuel then turned on the pusher and waited until fuel was coming out of the banjo at the ip. Then I closed down the banjo and let it push fuel for another minute. Then I turned it over for 10 seconds maybe and when I got out it was already throwing fuel out of the injector lines. Got my brother to turn it over while I watched and closed the lines down. Only took another minute or so of cranking before it came to life.

She fires INSTANTLY like I've never seen a Cummins do before. Like there is that first gen instant fire up and then there is this. It really is something. So the pistons couldn't have dropped compression much if they did or it wouldn't fire that quick.

Motor is real smooth too. The fluidampr is really doing its job. I noticed right away how smooth the motor runs. Even with crazy timing. I'll get a video up sooner or later. I had to air out the garage real good after the haze fest. I'm just waiting for it to warm up before I go back out and put the front end together.

The pump seal on the transmission is still leaking which is a massive p*ss off... Brand new seal and it is leaking like a sieve. I don't know what the deal there is. If I botched the seal install or damaged it when the converter went back on or what the heck. Maybe something is wrong with the stub of the torque converter.

Nothing like pairing a GREAT motor with a GOOD truck! Nice work!

What is that setup on the 2 valve covers in the center

Is that a case pressure line from the IP strategicly routed over the intake elbow? Lol

Thanks guys. I'm going to finish here over the next couple hours and take a video of it running and post it up

The valve cover thingy is a valve cover crank case breather.

And the line I think you're referring to is my fuel pressure line. The big white gauge coming off the side of the ip is my case pressure gauge.

Got it finished off today. Except for the pump seal leak on the transmission. :

I did take it for a brief drive after finding what was my only leak on the motor. Forgot to tighted something up and had a bit of coolant leaking. got that fixed and then drove down the street. Seems good. The boost gauge still bouces all over the place though... Not sure about surging yet. I got it up to about 20 psi. I'll baby it a bit until I get a few miles on it. Other than the pump seal leak on the trans it runs good...

Doesn't haze as much as I thought it did, or would I guess... so that's nice.

Couple pics and a video. I installed the Fummins badge, and the cummins badges on the fenders. Got my weathertech bug deflector and window deflectors on as well.

Ok so... stand by on the video. I uploaded it but it's not showing in my photobucket...

The 2 pictures...

There's the video. I'm on my phone so I can't embed the video.

Stock trans temp gauge on the truck isn't working (not that I care I have an isspro gauge) and the truck won't blow any heat (which I do care about, it's cold lol) . So I have to figure that out...

Other than that it runs good.

This has been a great thread to follow. Congratulations on a great job. Looks like a truck you can really be proud of and will impress anyone who appreciates a fine machine. Thanks for all your time and sharing. Enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Sweet!...I like the idle stop bolt idea....much easier to deal with than the o.e. one it looks like.

Yeah the idle stop is great. I saw a picture of someone who did it on here years ago. It's where I got the idea from.

Thanks guys.

The pride in my truck was short lived. The trans is fubared. It won't shift in to any gear for some reason so I have to figure that out. Pretty frustrating.
