Made a mistake today....

Drove an 11 3500 SRW CC 4x4 "Outdoorsman". Big mistake. I'm on the precipice of needing a new truck. My '01 has only 140k on it but it's got some rust that NEEDS attention. The '11 was soooooooo nice... Oh so nice. But with a list of $53k and a tag of $47900 with incentives and rebates and such, they are showing me $3800 for mine. I know it's worth more than that but...

Oh man....

Issue is, it's not going to last me forever. Not up here. And in 7 years I'll have a son in college that I'll need to pay for and I don't want to be paying for a truck then. And he doesn't fit in the back of my '01 anymore either. And my wife isn't happy about sitting back there either.

How do you like the 3.42's? What rpm are you seeing in top gear at 60?

I like them, I got them in hopes for a little better mileage. I dont tow very heavy, so the reduced tow capacity wasnt a big deal.

I see 1600 rpm's @ 60mph.

That's a good number I'd say. The one I looked at had 3.73's in it.

Those are all valid issues. If you want a new truck, go for it.

Find a 04 or in that body and save yourself some cash.. New is nice but sounds like its either a new truck or a kid in school.. ask him if he minds waiting a few years till the truck is paid off.. Dare ya to ask him that in front of your wife too.. Mine would kick my ****.

No. Kid's got 7 years or so before he gets into college age. So getting a truck now means it'll be paid for by the time he gets there. And it'll be 7 years old instead of 10-13 years....

I would say go for it, I love my 2010 it's stock except for larger tires. It's the best truck I have ever owned and I have owned a few. Very comfortable, pulls like crazy, mileage about 17 to 18 mpg, and I really like the styling. The price they are quoting is way out of line, I am hearing up to $10,000 discounts in some areas and they really low-balled your trade. Definately want to check out some other dealerships.
