school me.
i use shell rotella 15w40 with mopar filters in my 2005 diesel. what does this mean? (higher TBN) I have used Lucas products before and they are OK, but do not know if i am ready to change to their oil brand. Thanks, Fred |

I believe TBN is the thickness of the oil relative to its ability to hold contaminants away from engine parts. A real good website is bobisthe oilguy.com It has forums ALL about oil. LOL

TBN is Total Base Number. It has nothing to do with Viscosity (thickness).
