Anyone done this and had a clear coat applied to keep the bedliner material from fading?

For those of you that had the rockers sprayed was there any clearance issues with the door gaps? I wanted my line-x guy to do mine but he said he would have to leave a space by the gaps unsprayed so when you open the door it would clear.

Just a thought....

6 to 1, 1/2 dozen to the other, on 1 had you have sprayed rockers and bed (protected) and on the other you have unprotected rockers and bed and the paint is all chipped up and possible rust in the bed. i go for protected.

if you trade in, dealers have someone that air brushes the rock chips before they throw it on the lot. i traded in a 2nd gen with LOTS of rock chips, and they were magically gone when they re-sold it a couple of days later. the re-sale issue is something i have considered, when thinking about line-x for the rockers.

Rhino Liner quoted me $400 for the fender wells and lower 1/4 portion of my truck......

I have a pair of ATS Fender Flares on the way and I will see how they fit and look, otherwise I will sell them and get the truck sprayed....

Line-X Xtra has UV inhibitors so it won't fade or chalk, plus they can color match any color (automotive paint).

^^^ I agree. I have a Patriot blue truck and I will still be doing the rockers black. I was quoted 300 for the rockers, 350 for the bed, any texture I want. With the smoked cab lights and taillights/3rd brake I think it will look awesome. I'd rather do this than get fender flares, because the only reason I'd get flares would be to help with the rock chips.

The local Line-X guy here does a kevlar mix in that gives the Line-x a bit of a shine and he guarantees that it will not fade. Problem is he wants an extra $300 for it.

The LINE-X Xtra product is top-notch and HIGHLY recommended. It's made by Dupont only for LINE-X. LINE-X and Dupont spent over 2 years and went through over 30 formulations to come up with this product. Xtra achieves a mechanical bond, resists fading and loss of gloss, is more stain resistant, is more scratch resistant, contains a Dupont Kevlar micro pulp for durability, is easier to clean, and is available in black or for color matching. For colors, the dealer will use the factory paint code to get the exact pigment forumula. If your paint has metallic flakes, so will the Xtra. Here are some Xtra pics on rockers:

Other Xtra pics:
Bedliner color match.

Regular black LINE-X on the rockers:
