Key FOB

Does anyone have a clue how to program a keyless entry remote for a 99 Dodge 2500 without paying 73.50 at the Dodge Dealership?

That is the only way unless you can find someone with their own DRBIII.

If you already have a working FOB then you can do it, if not then you are stuck paying them to activate the learning function of the on board receiver using their computer.

If you do get a FOB programmed, buy a few more and program them to the truck then take that master FOB and stash it, like in a safe deposit box, in case you ever need to program other FOBs again. That's what I did.
Oh, and once you have a working FOB, just put the numbers on the back in the search on Ebay and pick up the extras for CHEAP. I have two extras for my truck.

Which numbers are you looking at on the FOB? The part number?

Sorry, might be a silly question. I have one FOB that isn't working, would like to have that fixed.

How do you reprogram them if you have one working?

You will need the exact match on the FCC ID number. I beleive the instructions to program are in the manual.

What would cause the remote to just stop working? It worked one day, and the next, nothing. I replaced the batteries but still doesn't work. Is this thing gonna have to be reprogrammed now?

No telling. I have one that just stops working and may or may not work after messing with the batteries in it. Maybe a connection problem? That's the main reason I bought some spares.

So is that the cost to get a keyless setup to work for my truck 73.50 plus getting a master remote? I wouldn't mind having that option on my truck. It would be really nice.

Hello all; first post here. Got lots of advice for dealing with a PS pump puking, and now I'm on to tackle convenience items...

Bought a 2000 2500 truck with keyless entry but all key fobs were trashed. Without a working key fob, is the dealer programming required, or can I do this (from an old TSB)? Something tells me this is too good to be true, and I want to get advice before I trash something in the computer by shorting a connector.

Program Method D (For use with AB vehicles not equipped with VTSS only)
1. Locate the dark green program enable wire connected to pin #1 of the 16-way data link connector under the left side Of the Instrument panel.
2. Connect the program enable more terminal to a good ground.
3. Insert the key into the ignition and turn the ignition switch to the ON position. The power locks will cycle (Lock and Unlock) indicating that program mode has been entered.
4. Using the transmitter to be programmed, press either [LOCK] or [UNLOCK]. The power locks will cycle indicating the transmitter has been programmed successfully.
5. Repeat step 4 to program additional transmitter.
6. Disconnect the program enable wire from ground to exit program mode.
7. Turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the key.
