Jimmi Jammers and Bully Tailgate Handle

Well, the Bully tailgate handle came today from Geno's Garage. I received my 2 pairs of Jimmi Jammers for the Mega's doors on Saturday, so I took the time this afternoon to get the beginnings of some greater security done! Installing the tailgate handle was interesting -- the shop that did the Line-X must have switched my tailgate access panel with someone else, as it is a teal blue/green color on the back instead of graphite gray! They must remove them, as the inside of my gate including all levers, springs, and the mounting boltes were covered in bedliner material. The system still works well/easily, so it isn't hurting anything, but it surprised me they don't mask it off. The Bully locking tailgate handle went in very easily, and looks like a factory unit. My wife is very happy!

The Jimmi Jammers went in very well also! The website said it should take about 30 - 35 minutes or so per door. Well, maybe if the installer has zero mechanical ability or had to hold a light in one hand or something -- I had the new tailgate handle and all 4 Jimmi Jammers installed in approx. 1 hour. The longest door was the Driver's, as I hadn't realized they don't use pop-out clips on the newer trucks. I broke two plastic clips off trying to pull the door panel loose from the door shell. After I figured out I can just lift up and rotate toward the rear of the door, they come right off!!

I don't know how effective the little stickers are as a deterent to the would-be thief/dirt bag, but I put them in the lower corner of the windows anyway. Can't hardly see them through the factory tint of the rear windows, though.

There aren't any Ravelco installers in my neck of the world, so I am debating ordering factory direct now. That along with a decent alarm to make it uncomfortable to rummage in the interior, and I think I will have done as much as is reasonable to keep my truck safe. I plan a trip later this year, and worry about her in strange country, with my 'out-of-state" plates making us stick out...

I got the Jimmie Jammers and the Gate keeper on mine. I can't get the tail gate lock because my tailgate is linered and they covered my access.

Send Rob at Ravelco an email. I had him install mine right before I came home off deployment. They might have someone closer to you that isn't listed on the website.

Not sure how hard it would be, but you might be able to carefully run a sharp blade around the access panel outline, then clean out the T-30 torx sockets in the bolt heads. My panel looked like it had been Line-Xed as well, but they must have taken it off to do it since the Line-X was also sprayed into the tailgate interior and under the access panel mounting area.

Pop & Lock makes an insertable tailgate lock that simply snaps into the space under the handle. I didn't like it for my purposes (looks too much like an afterthought add-on) plus the price was $49.95 at the truck stores.

I've got the Pop & Lock on mine in addition to the Roll n Lock tonneau (which also locks the tailgate). Simple install and should deter casual thieves....

The Bully tailgate locks are cool and help you sleep but honestly, they do not offer a ton of protection. They pretty much just make the thief pull harder to open the tailgate. I came out to find mine ripped off and laying on the ground at the gun range. I bought another and it works great and looks factory. Funny thing about my ripped handle is...my bed was empty and all the thief had to do was open the hard tonneau cover, it was unlocked. Lucky I didn't catch him. I'm all for anything that keeps my tailgate from getting ripped off.

a gun range certainly wouldn't be a good spot to catch a thief . . .!!!

i have jimmi jammers and a ravelco in my truck. the ravelco takes a bit of getting used too - especially the fact it makes your key chain quite a bit larger. i have had zero issues with either product so far.

Yes, I worry about that -- the handle is still plastic like stock. Not the most secure, but better than what I had before. I am looking into a quality hose clamp over the hinge pin, but haven't found a clamp that looks durable enough, as well as rust resistant. All local stainless hoseclamps don't pass the magnet test! I want a good one that will hold the position well and not loosen after 500 miles.

I just s[ent the 25 bucks or what ever it was and put the Jimmie Jammer Gate Keeper on my truck. I am hinking about taking it off and painting it becasue it has a few little rust spots on it.
