Installed ATP Wap Noise reduction kit

Diesel Gods,
I finally saved enough dough to get the ATP wrap. Installed it last Friday night. Figured it would help reduce the noise since Dodge removed all hood insulation. > The ATP wrap definitely reduces the cab noise about 25 to 30%. I purchased the kit to reduce the noise mainly when I'm pulling my 30' camper. When I take the overdrive off and pull the camper at 70mph it is LOUD!!! Happy with the kit so far. Hopfully it will reduce the noise during my summer driving and not cause any problems. ??? Most importantly it did not eliminate that CTD sound. 8) Tim at ATP will talk your ear off, he is a genuine good guy. Take a look at the website. Adios.

http://atpwrap.com/dodge_ram.htm
Can you post exactly what it was you installed? The basic kit, or the kit plus options etc?

Thank you very much >

Now there is something else I've got to put on my list of gotta have items for my truck. : :'( That hood blanket looks too sweet and if it makes it quieter in the cab I'm all for that. Not that it's overly loud now but it would be nice to have it a tad quieter for those long trips and in the winter time mine does get a little loud.

DB

The additional kit contains the oil pan cover and the hood liner. Tim Thompson at ATP suggested that the hood liner did not cut down on the noise as much, not to mention it was $400 bucks. I called the Dodge ******* in town and it cost $45 bucks for the missing hood liner. > Tim used a db meter to check the sound, with the kit intalled he said it read 59db at idle. ??? Whatever that means. He suggested that the normal hood liner will supply the same amount of sound barrier. Anyway, I love it. It muffles the sound enough to hear the radio and talk without shouting. The engine sound is just right, not too loud, but enough to hear that beautiful CTD sound. ;D

Glad you like it, Jonesy. I'm going to order the hood blanket , and the oil pan cover in the spring. The pan cover installation instructions make it sound Rube Goldberg-ish. What did you find to wire it to?

Tom Hybiske

I wired the back of the oil pan cover to an overhaning end of a bolt. The front of the oil pan I wired to the front part of the fram/bumper. It's snug. Adios.

Re:Installed ATP Wap Noise reduction kit

I also wanted the ATP kit, but felt it was too expensive. I contacted an insulation dealer who helped me design a blanket of my own, and gave me a great price on a multiple order. If anyone is interested in the valve cover blanket for a 24v engine let me know. It will be about $50 less than the ATP cover, and is also a well made, quality blanket.

Re:Installed ATP Wap Noise reduction kit

The only reason I would get one on mine is so I could hear my system better. But if I'm going to spend that much money, I'm going to cover the whole inside of my truck in Dynamat.

Adios.
