Injectors to go with he351ve
Just put an he351vgt on the ol Ramcharger and I am having trouble finding info about which injectors would be a good match in a first gen, because the stock sticks just aren't enough for my liking. 5x14's seem like they would do alright, but I would like some more input guys.
The truck is just a DD with the occasional 20k trailer a few times a year, if I can stop it anyways.

I talked to RCCUMMINS89 about the same question and he seemed to believe that 5x11 extrude hones would be the best option for me. I just didn't want it getting too hot or having my timing too high for the big injectors.
I daily drive mine and haul loads in the bed. I won't ever be towing 20k lbs though.
How do you like the he351ve so far? Mines still sitting on the desk waiting for me to install it!

The VGT can be a blessing or a curse depending on how you control the vanes. Because it can open up, you can control your EGT better with larger sticks. Even with that capability, towing will push your EGT way up. So stay conservative with your injector choices. Also depends on were you want your power, for the street or for pulling your trailer.

So far I am liking it Dan, wasn't to bad of an install either. I just plugged the holes in the turbine housing and redrilled and tapped for the t3 flange, then I just port matched a little. I'm using the lower half of the electronic actuator also, just pulled out the extra gear. i have a lever clamped onto the gear shaft that I can turn wherever for adjustment, then a dual acting cylinder using boost to open, a dual rate spring to control how fast, and
I am going to run a line from the vacuum pump through a switch to the other cylinder port to open it up while cruising, and while at idle. I only have about 2/3rds travel of vanes, but I will open it up more once I have the fuel.
I only ever pull the trailer heavy less than 10 times a year. mostly just drive it 10 miles a day for work. I usually keep it under 50mph with the RC just because I know the trailer would be hard to stop and it pushes the truck around some.
I thought I heard it said that the vgt will be good for a hot 450hp, but I would be happier with a cooler 350. I just want a little room to grow If funds permit.

How did you do the downpipe? Did you weld something onto the factory 45* elbow?
I believe 350hp would tow whatever you wanted to safely. You don't want to have injectors too big and have to watch your egts all the time while you're towing. You should send rccummins89 a pm on cumminsforum. He sells injectors for good prices and will give you all the information you'll want to know.

Sounds awesome! I cant wait to have all my parts ready and install it over a weekend. I'll be using a standalone controller that runs off of boost pressure to control mine. Also having an option for manual control so I can set it to full open on the highway, or use the exhaust brake whenever. The exhaust brake warmup feature seems like it will be handy in winter too.

I found a flange that fit the downpipe, but parts at work couldn't locate a clamp, so I welding it to the elbow, then I went dumpster diving and got a 4" elbow and pipe, rusty, but works alright.
I also found out that the local shop can do extrude honing and build whatever I want for injectors, but I'm not sure yet. I'd like to stay local though.
