Help with wiring

Looking at the steering column 2000 3500 diesel a little to the right there are 2 wires that come through a grommet the grn and white runs acrosss the firewall all the way to the passenger side and plugs into a red female plug..My trucks tranny was hunting and I did have some worn spots in this wire i taped it up and it quit the hunting.Today I thought I would change the old wire.As Ipulled it through the firewall it came out with no real effert and now I have no idea where it goes inside and the truck wont start no power to starter PLEASE HELP Thanks Ray

It had been reenginered. No factory green w/tracer wires sticking through cowl that could just be pulled out. It may have been a rewire for the hunting issue.
