Heading to the Dyno on Friday

Welp, I set up an appointment at G & J diesel in Billings, MT to see what my truck can do.

I'm hoping for around 275 whp uncorrected. I think my IP is a little on the weak side.

Any tips or comments?

Make sure you wax the truck before you go it helps the truck cut through the air

You should be over 300hp easily, I would disappointed if your not. Hotwire the KSB and turn it on, Mine was good for another 12hp

I think you should experiment with timing. You have enough fuel and the trans to put 350+ down.
I would start with the pump to the head with the gears in the stock position. I would advance from there. I did see that you have the timing spacer.

Call ahead to make sure the magnetic engine RPM sensor is working. (They will put a spot of reflective material on your harmonic damper. A magnetically mounted optical device will see the spot as it goes by).
The dyno will need the RPM reading to come up with the torque of the engine. Don't it'll have to be estimated.

- Get your crap together! Make sure the throttle linkage is good to go. Have someone floor it while you check things at the IP. Have you got a pile of carpet under the throttle? Air filter's clean, Fuel filter's clean, inter-cooler's not stopped-up with bugs. Correct air pressure in the rear tires if not a little on the hard side.
When's the last time you adjusted the valves? Mess like that. See last note below.

-Be sure to clean everything around the front/lower portion of the engine around the damper, cross member and frame. No need in adding to the aggravation with grease.

- Run the tests in Over-Drive (TC Locked) so as to put a bigger load on the engine thus better ensuring full fuel/boost.

- Be sure to specify "NO Correction Factor". It may be a smaller number, but it's possibly more realistic.

- No matter what number you're thinking when you get there, be ready for the fella to set you straight. The Dyno can hurt your feelings.

182/440 in 3rd gear (uncorrected)
202/412 in OD (uncorrected)

They did not give me a graph.

I have a lot of work to do somewhere. Not even close to 275 uncorrected. The truck runs great though.

Dyno was a mustang dyno.

They ended up not charging me, which was cool though.

I did some of the things you guys suggested. I think I'm going to look into a new fuel filter, as I did not change it. The rear tires might of been a little low. They squished down a little when they hooked the truck up to the rollers. KSB was not hot wired.

I did swap out my BHAF with my old AFE (recharged it) and the truck got great mileage driving to Billings today.

They are almost stock numbers that dyno was WAY WAY WAY off. didn't have near enough load on it.

Well he said it would only get to 1200* in 3rd gear, but it got real hot running in OD. he also said the turbo was hitting 30 psi, so I dunno. At least it was free.

How much boost does it see on the street?

Also, what rpm were your numbers at?

Sounds like it needs timing, if the power was at a low rpm...

Mine made peak hp at 2750...

Where is your fuel screw at?

about 2600 rpm. I can hit about the same psi on the street that it was doing on the dyno.
