Re:have ????

Does your clutch slip now if stock? 1300 degrees pre turbo is ok all day long but post turbo is not good for long periods of time.

Re:have ????

I am assuming you ground off the "tit" that is the rack follower spring lever stop to get the follower to go all the way to the bottom of your new cam profile? If not, all you have accomplished is move your stock fuel plate forward.

When you look at the stock plate there is a foot, a little ramp that probably goes backwards on your truck, a stop about 5/16" up the plate, and then a drop into the back of the plate. The stop must be removed, the little slight ramp angled about 38 degrees for 5/16" toward the front of the plate and into the crecent. The follower should drop into the "crecent" at 7/8 throttle and above.

You can check the action by watching through one of the inspection ports while you work the linkage by hand. The AFC must be removed or pulled forward all the way while you test or it will stop the follower from moving forward.

A zero plate has a stabilizer to keep the rack from slamming and the follower from bouncing around, and that is about all.

Do not remove the cam plate, you can damage your pump by letting the rack slam against the control surfaces, and also cause it to bind and perhaps give you a ride of your life!

You did do all the correct things with the AFC.

Check the links on this site and look for a speciality shop in your area. There are some chain performance shops, but they generally like to get you to "grab your ankles" for payment - too steep for me (and I started a chain of those pirates and sold them)!

If you make good friends with the Cummins shop folks, you can sometimes get one of them to time your truck the way you want, but do not expect them to warrant that work. Sometimes it works to take the license plates off and put it on a trailer and tow it in to the Cummins Service Center as an offroad vehicle. Otherwise, they will set timing to the CPL specs, and can end up without a job if they do otherwise to a highway legal vehicle and get caught at it.
