Thats what cracks me up. There are so dang many free places to camp that are beautiful. Last time we paid was at Carlsbad Caverns. Needed to dump, get water and most important--take a shower.

Fiver - see now, that is what I mean when I talk about camping. Our bodies of water in southern Alberta are a bunch smaller. We do have some pretty cool wheat fields though

Fiver, I can't believe that spot you parked in, too sweet!

Hello from the land of the lost. It's been pretty crazy the last 2 weeks. I'm back in Julesburg so any of you folks that happen to be traveling in the extreme NE corner of Colorado stop by and visit.

We thought maybe you had jumped off the edge of the earth but Heidi said you were still kicking.
P.S. I am attempting to not use the Sh*** word anymore. It was a sickness.
Going to let it die the same way it lived,, with seriousness, dignity, decorum and respectability.

Yeah......right! I'm still around but I've been too busy to post lately, sorry. I have been missing my DTR family a bunch though. I've got to figure out how to get some pics off the cell phone and on to the laptop so I can post them here. Some of the pics I've gotten are pretty cool.

Do you have a data plan? E-mail them to yourself. Or, pull the SD card out, if your computer has a SD card reader.

Knowing Rick, it is probably a brick phone with some crayon on it...

Mornin. Coffee and sinuses.

Later.

A fine afternoon to all. Just got in from the shopping trip to Sams. Amazing how much you can add up when you go in that crazee place. Oh well, that should hold us for another month.

Hey man, it is nice to see you back. That parking spot was neat, but we have sooooo many pics like that from all over. We love it out on the road in the fiver and hitting the neat spots. I could run a whole thread quite long on very unusual and picturesque places we have been. We are blest to have been able to do this. Here is another one. Alaska. Imagine being forced to stare out the rear picture window at stuff like this. Stayed here a week.

Here is another. I was sitting in my recliner (turned around) drinking coffee watching this sunset out the picture window. Just had to take the pic. This is on Fundy Bay in Nova Scotia. 57' tides here. The whales play right out in front of you at high tide and five hours later you can walk in the mud across to the island. Amazing.

OK, I will quit or I will be heading over, hook up, bring baby home, load it up and head out - - - and I just can't right now. BBBOOOOOO

Bob

We are proud of you, big boy. It can be tough getting there and not so easy to stay there. Growed up??? Please tell that to the blonde - - she thinks I am still the big nut she married (as she grins and gives me a hug). ........

Why don't you do that Bob? I think we'd all enjoy that!

My father was stationed somewhere up near there, and I remember him telling me stories of how the tide comes in, in a wall of water so high and so quick, that pigs and chickens that had wandered out on the mudflats would drown because they couldn't outrun the water.

Howdy y'all. I haven't been around much lately, mainly because of a hectic schedule and a lot of frustration. And adding to the frustration is my inability to access this site most of the time. Anyone else seeing the same thing? I was amazed when I was able to sign in on the first try tonite!

Hope y'all are doing well. I DID see where Cougar blew out his knee, sorry to hear that. Maybe we should reserve a section for the old and infirm on this site. It'd prob'ly be the most active forum around!

When the tide changes up that way, it will cause what is called "tidal bore." It will cause the rivers to reverse and start running backward. At the point where they do that, it creates a wall of water like a wave. There are several points where the surfers just wait for that tidal bore and ride a wave back up the rivers sometimes quite a ways, and that wall can be six or more feet high. It is fascinating to watch. Neat place to visit.

Dude, that is awesome. I didn't know you quit drinking.

As far as tides, I don't think the ones in SC were that crazy, but they were strong, always moving. Makes the river flow backwards too.

Awesome place.

Crazy day, thought we had an outbreak of smallpox at the barracks... turned out to be a false alarm AFTER I had recalled every one. What the heck!!!

Got home, told the wife about my day, told her I needed a minute or two to decompress, she promptly sat down next to me talked nonstop for 10 minutes. Not sure she is listening to me.
