Looking at the top of the pump from the front the allen screw to the right is trapped under the throttle lever spring. Does the throttle lever have to come off the top of the pump to get this out or am I missing something?<br><br>Also is there a torque spec for the allen screws?<br><br>Thanks,<br><br>Jay

look farther down this page. but if you remove the lever be very careful it is indexed to the shaft. has to go back at the same place you removed it.

Could you just take a paint pen and mark the location of the throttle assembly on top of the pump to the VE housing? Then just make sure you line the marks up when going back with it?

Hi Jay,<br>You don't have to remove the lever. You may have to cut out a small portion of the plastic tab that covers the screw though. A Dremel tool with a small cutter bit can easily take care of that. The spring can be pushed back while the screw is being removed. This will allow for sufficient clearance. Be careful when removing the top of the pump and governor spring. When removing the spring from the bottom part of the pump, be sure that the small spring, cup, and shaft, doesn’t fall into the pump, or on the floor. Also, be EXTREMELY careful to keep the parts clean. Clean the engine and pump before starting, and cover the open pump to keep dirt out. <br><br>Mike<br>

BTW, for those who have done this mod I'd like to ask...

Had you made high idle adjustments prior to this install?

Did you &quot;reverse&quot; those adjustments?

Did you do high idle adjustments in addition to the gov. spring?

Did you experience any change/issues with idle quality/stability?

Can you think of any other mods that many of us do, that may need alteration or reversal of?

Thanks for the info.. I'll try it again next weekend when I have more time. <br><br>jughead- how is the shaft indexed? Inside the top nut of the throttle lever there is what looks like a slotted screw head inside. Is this the top of the shaft or some kind of set screw?<br><br>Thanks,<br><br>Jay
