GM atf in dodge? (help)
alright. my dad made a "T" adaptor out of hydraulic fittings for the sender unit for my transmission temp guage. instead of cutting the line, he put the whole thing right out of the tranmission- and so pushed the line back to the other side of the fitting. alright- let's head to Billy's house to help him with his snowmobiles.

it didn't shift right (too restrictive?). then, about 1/2 mile from billy's house, the tranny started slipping. i got it up to 30mph and then coasted it in neutral to bill's driveway (trans temp now at 230*). come to find out, the "T" fitting broke (must have been too heavy)--atf spilling everywhere.

we did our best to put the lines back to stock (1/2" inverted flare to the line and fitting). well, that 1/2" inverted flare is now only being held in by 3 threads instead of about 8 (that's where it broke)--gotta find a new one tomorrow.

well, bill only had GM atf (that has the dextron 3 and micron stuff). 3 1/2 quarts later is was up and running to normal level. by the time this thing is over i will have put about 200 miles on my tranny. 70 miles since tonight and things seem alright. what are the consequences of having that fluid in my transmission? do i need to have a full flush soon? will there be any damage?

sorry for the long post.
thanks, Tom

I don't think there is any problem. Even the shop manual says that it is OK to use Dexron. I have had tranny shops tell me that Dexron is better????
george
