G-56 & Hp/tq

How much extra HP/TQ can a stock G-56 handle before the clutch starts slipping/ letting go?

Mine held the Smarty/TST stack, when I swapped it for the DD it was actually still in pretty good shape!

Transmission can handle a lot more power, but, as Annabelle said, clutch was not set up to hold a lot more, just like previous Dodge CTD transmissions.

NO, not at all a lot of people once they get 600+ and start drag racing them or sled pulling the casings start splitting in half

My stock clutch wouldn't hold software #2 on the smarty jr, and this was just layin on the throttle going down the highway without towing anything.

Probably depends on what gear you are in when you hammer it. I have the Dr. Performance Stage III 110/220 module, but never hammer it in 6th, and only really hammered it in 5th once. Seems like if you just get on it hard in 2-4th there is less load on the clutch. That's my theory anyway.

Not that I would try to sled pull or drag race on a stock clutch anyway...

Nope. A lot of failures in these things. Seems like 4th gear is a common one to go. 600hp seems to be the point at which a lot have failed. Tac

Smaty jr on 3 will slip at will. Holds two pretty good. Set on 3 at 80% pod dosent slip but something is getting bound up because once in a while i cant push the clutch in.Like the throw out bearing is binding. It's going in tomorrow for a new clutch. Will post new thread on the results.
