Fuel left after fuel light comes on

Does anyone know approximately how much fuel is left after the fuel light comes on? I'm guessing about 6-8 gallons.

I figure about 10. My truck as 34 gallons and if I hit up the station right at the gas light I can get in about 25 gallons.

I've ran mine down to the light only twice, and each time was only able to squeeze 28-29 gallons in,
34 gallon tank makes that 5-6 gallons.

Been said numerous times, but it's bad mojo to let it get that low.
VP44 is relying on nice cool fuel to keep itself cooled and lubed, once you get that low the fuel is no longer cool, but quite hot.

Letting it get that low could cost you an injection pump.

I think I got the short end of the stick. I only have a 28 gallon tank. I usually fill up at 1/4 tank and it takes about 20 gallons. Was the 34 gallon tank an option?

I was under the impression it came with the long bed extended cab truck. You had to get the long bed short cab to get the 35g tank.

My understanding is that the extended cab short bed came with 34 gal tank and extended cab long bed/regular cab long bed came with 35 gal tank......could be wrong
That being said I have never been able to put more than 27 gal in mine CJ

Hmm,
I understand the premise guys but mine is functional and from all indication on the pump is original. I think it may have some issues but they seem to have subsided. That said I have put 32 once and usually (depends on my plan for the weekend and the next week) fill between the light and the bottom of the E. It is between 26 and 30 gal.

It did bite me once. My guesstimate was off by about 15 mile and I hit an incline. I got to sit on the side of the freeway for three hours after work one morning. I could not for the life of me get it to prime the Jet-A a co-worked brought to me. My dad drug me to the shop and we cranked on it for a while and it lit.

Randy

BTW, long beds 35 short beds 34. Gas short bed 26.

About 8 gal. left with the 35-gal tank.

I would imagine more people will let their trucks get down lower on fuel before filling up in hopes that the prices have gone down. I have been maybe it’s not such a good idea. Failed to think about the cooling aspect.

Only do it on mine on long trips....takes 25-26 gallons.

Oestreich84 - Mine only takes 22 gal at 1/4 tank. Takes a long time to got down from there. I believe all second Gen trucks are either 34 or 35 gal.

Both of my CTD's have the 35 gallon tank.....the light on my 98.5 comes on when there is exactly 10 gallons left in the tank which is 1.25 gallons more than a 1/4 tank.
