Re:FUEL FILTER

I got a 99 and I belive mine is different then your. I loosen the nut on top and let the cansiter drop, pull the filter out and dump the fuel and wipe the cansiter out. Then fill the cansiter about 60% full with clean fresh diesel fuel, stick the new filter in and install the caniter back on. Truck fires right up.

Re:FUEL FILTER

I'm getting ready to change mine. Can you use the square hole in the top with a 1/2 drive extension?

Re:FUEL FILTER

No, dont use the square drive hole.
Many have cracked the cap that way.

Re:FUEL FILTER

I had to pop the cover off of my filter while it was still in the cannister. Couldn't get it out because of the suction with the fuel, didn't want to drain the fuel and lose prime. OK to do that, it worked. Top popped off with small screwdriver on tabs, and then filter came out with a sucking sound. (I have an '02.)

Ascraeus

Re:FUEL FILTER

Lube up the cap threads and o-ring with a little fuel and it will screw on ALOT easier.

Mike
