Bought it new off the showroom floor ? Cool ! A one owner CTD Dodge
Where is custom suspension, and what did you pay for them ??
They are located in Abbotsford B.C
Total cost including bushings, rear shackle arms, u bolts, grade 8 bollts and washers...... 607.00
I assume they made them from scratch, vs having a set on the shelf, correct ???
Yes
How much to ship them to you. ?
120.00 UPS ground
I'm intrigued by these springs and how they work.... more importantly, how comfortable they make the ride.
All I can say is ..... Awesome !
Love the blue truck theme. How long ago was it repainted ?
Ya it's a factory Ford Blue actually from the early 90's. I sprayed it 2 years ago, 2 coats base and one coat of clear. Thats what it matched up with from the scan from a spray bomb I bought at a local auto store to start coat my interior. I added a bit of metalic. It's close to the Dodge Blue on the 2nd gens.

PJ 3,
If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? When these trucks were discontinued in 1994, I knew we would never see anything like them again. I had the presence of mind to buy one then, I just didn't have the presence of money. At that time I had 12 years on the Wichita Fire Department (Fire Ops Lt.) and had put enough money aside to buy a house. There was just no way I could swing both, I'm glad you did and hung on to the truck as well. Plus it looks as if it's had exceptional care through the years.

I'll never forget the day that I drove it off the lot. The salesman looked at me and winked........saying, you bought yourself one hell of a truck there young fella......enjoy it for many years to come.......He was sooooo right. The following day I drove it to work and told the boys that I will retire driving this baby. They all laughed at me thinking that it would not be so. Well the mill is shut down and I never got to retire but the old girl is still on the road, solid as a brick and will be for many more to come !

Great story! Congratulations on being financially able and smart enough to buy one new. Not to mention wise enough to keep it. I retired from the WFD about a year and a half ago (I'm 59). I told myself that as a retirement gift to myself, I was going to find a nice 1st Gen to buy and keep. The black 93 that I found has 112K miles, original drive train, interior and paint. It has obviously had exceptional care, garage kept and used very little so I'm happy with the purchase. It's not like having one from day one though. It's incrediable to me how these trucks have held their value. Price a nice 92 Chevy or Ford, they can be bought for a fraction of what these old Dodges with the 12V bring. Well, I've taken up enough of your time. Great truck, with a great history.

. I purchased the truck in August of 1992 at the age of 32. I was working in the paper industry at the time so money was good. I already had my house built and payed for so I purchased it out right. When I first saw the truck new I fell in love. It was parked inside a shopping mall right in front of the bank of all places.... At the time I was on my way in to withdraw some cash with my buddy for a fishing trip and I was drooling at the site of it. A month later after my return I was driving by the Chrysler dealer and saw it sitting there on the lot so I jumped on it. I really didn't know to much about diesel trucks at the time but took the plunge but never regretted it I'll tell ya !

****, I'm either really sick or the pollen count is just killing me...
Great story..... Great truck... Kudos to you for keeping her so pristine what do you do to keep the frame / body clean below. What rust prevention methods do you use? My truck came from Washington, and as soon as I bought it, I restored.... or I should say... cleaned, scraped, rust converted, primed and painted the entire frame, minus the rear leafs...

Great story, pics, and info. Nice truck!
As soon as I'm done with the basics of turning my 92 into a DD,
I'll upgrade the springs.
My front springs look like your original
Will definitely buy the Custom set
A local "re arch er" wants about $300 if I take the springs in.
Cheers

Anyway I opted to purchase new rather than tinker with something totally worn out. I cut some pretty rotted and unsafe components out of the front end. I feel much better running something new and improved.

I cleaned the front end up today and re painted the front drive shaft and housing. Upon installation, I found out that my driveshaft is to short because of my lift issues that I gained. I had my front shaft repaired several years back so I really don't know if the new spline section that was welded in was a little shorter than stock. With the cv end bolted up to the transfer case the joint is 3/4 of an inch from seating inside the dana 60 yoke, driveshaft maxed out all the way. I have 1 1/4 inches of total play back and forth on the spline........whether this is normal on a front shaft or not I don't know. Anyway by the looks of it, in order to gain 3/4 of an inch plus half of my free play being 1 1/4 inches I am looking at being short by 1 3/8 inches. I guess I am off to the drive shaft shop tomorrow. I checked the degree of angle on the face of the D60 yoke and transfer case bolting plate and both were identical. Just a word of caution to anyone wanting to try this mod !
Does anyone know the total lenght of a stock front drive shaft completely compressed from cv plate to back side of the u joint end ?
Mine is 28 1/2..........29 5/8 fully extended.

I took a run to the drive shaft shop and got my shaft problem solved. He is going to cut it and weld a longer spline on that free floats with a rubber boot to keep moisture out. The joint end will be bigger than stock with a conversion joint installed.....all spicer. My stocker only had a traveling distance of 1 1/4 inches vs the 3 inches on the new set up he is building. It will be more re assuring knowing that the shaft will not max out being that my springs seem to have more movement than before.

I would wait 3 or 4 thousand miles let the springs settle in.
